we tried our hands at sand boarding. Ended up with alot of sand everywhere. Sus was the best in the group, if there had been a ramp there I am sure she would have done a flip on it. We are finally in Agua Caliente and got our first peak at the ruins today from across the way at the top of a mountain we hiked up. It was 2 hours strait up and I started to hyperventilate because apparently my fear of heights is a little more serious than I thought. We kept going up though becuase it was scarier to go down. The view was amazing. I made it down, I used my hands as blinders so I could not see the edge. We spent the rest of the afternoon resting our bones in the hot springs here. So nice.

Here is the best place to be spending a January day. Learning lessons all the hard way down here, for example, why you don´t put your bag between your feet on the floor of the bus. Any guesses? Pick one.
a) you might accidentally pee on it
b) a bus rat might chew on it
c) there is a hole in the floor and it could fall onto the highway
d) the clever jerk sitting behind you will wait for his friend to signal to him you are not paying attention and then he will pull in under the seat, remove the new camera from it and slide it back under, all while you have no clue.... until you are off the bus and it is way too late.

Although it is not 2003, here we are. One day at the beach and some pretty sweet burns to show for it. We wore sunscreen, we just missed a few spots. We are in a wild little beach town in the north called Mancora. Everything revovles around going to the beach. There are few trees, little shade (unless you rent an umbrella and chairs) and the ocean is cold, but refreshing. We have been eating alot of ceviche in the mornings and lots of fruit. So far so good. We will keep working with the camera to put up some more pictures. Love Erin and Sus

I am amazing, this is Erin. Last night I was lying in bed trying to figure out how to make the pictures of Sus´camera smaller so we can upload them and I somehow managed to delete all of the ones we have taken so far. Amazing. That is all. We are still doing great, moving north bit by bit. We went to see some cool ruins yesterday at Chan Chan, Paul you would know there. I am curious how much it has changed here since you were here. Every corner has something new and cool around it. There are things that remind me of Costa Rica here, things that remind me of Ghana- mostly people roasting meat on a stick on a cart lit by a lantern at night. I am going to drink some Peruvian beer tonight and relax. I am pushing the limit on how much fruit one person should eat in a day. I have to go, time is running out. Stupid girl= no pictures. Lo siento.

I hope the holidays treated everyone well. I am still eating chocolate and delicious things that came in my stocking. I got spoiled rotten, Christmas makes me feel like I am 6 again. I think Santa still comes to my house. I also still think that the dog can talk at Christmas. On Christmas Eve if you look outside you can see the animals talking to each other, the only problem is we only have one dog now and it has no one to talk to. How sad, I was hoping Santa would bring us another one. So, we are heading to Peru, only for a month. I was thinking that we would keep people posted on where we are headed through this blog again, it needs a purpose and this seems like a good on for it. We are leaving on the 10th of Jan and should ( ha ha we are never coming back, don't tell my mom) be back on the 6th of Feb. Yes, I know you are all thinking, "but Erin you will miss your birthday party we are planning for you". That is cool guys, we can just have it the weekend after. You are all so sweet for planning one for me. I love you all.

I am thinking about dusting off the cob webs on this blog like thing of mine. I know you are all just dying to know what I do and think about. Between the MJ songs, conversations with hamsters and dreams of coffee, there are some thoughts in there. I just biked home from my night class on Zen meditation in the pouring rain, it was wonderful. Before I got on my bike I was worried my ass would get wet where the rain coat did not cover, well, I made it home and I am pretty sure I am soaked on every inch of me, I left my clothes on the porch running in side in me undies and hopefully no hobos steal them. But I guess if they steal them, the probably needed them more then I do anyways. Speaking of hobos, it is a good thing Bryn was not home, he hates when I run around in my underwear, no he actually really loves it... creep.

Life is good. Things have changed, as they always do. With each change I learn to deal with them better. I am the big kid at school now, I guess that one would feel that way as a fifth year student in second year classes. The house is quiet except for the ass I share a wall with who has some how obtained this thing that makes the base of his music shake my bones and rattle my brain, Ester recomended a shot gun, I just need to figure out where to get one. I miss you all, I am off to the porch to watch the rain.

okay Sus, really, do you think your one hammy would stand a chace against my army of hamsters? Mine would destroy yours. Any one want to place money on it? I have so many I can't even fit them all in the same picture or I guess I can't get them all to stay still long enough.
I am raising this new type of ultra smart, ultra dangerous attack hamsters. I am getting paid to do it by this Dutch scientist who want to use them to take over the world. First you breed the cutest hamsters you can possibily think of and then you sell them to kiddies (or 23 year olds) all over the world where on a chosen day at midnight they will use their razor sharp teeth to chew through the bars and after that there is no turning back.

We went on a mission to find monkeys this weekend. This park is known for monkeys being so used to people, they come right up to them. It wasnt our lucky day because it was raining and they were all hiding. We didnt even see one. We came down to Dominical this afternoon and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a green double decker bus with a map of the world painted on it with a trail showing where it had been and inside was a travelling circus. Sus and I have started a gang on the farm, don´t we look tough? So far we have three goats, some chickens, the cow and a few of the kids that live on the farm as part of it. We are running Platinillo using just our tough faces.

SO we have this bin here on the farm where passing volunteers leave clothes that are just too discusting to keep traveling with and new volunteers wear them to work when they don´t want to get their old clothes wrecked on the farm shovelling shit, these clothes have been collecting for about 15 years in this bin, and this is where we found the clothes for THE FINCA IPE FASHION SHOW EXRAVAGANZA, Sus is sporting this auqua marine shirt that someone must have slid through tyhe compost pile in, and is you could see her bottom half she is wearing some awlays in style denim cutoffs that go up past her belly button, oww oww! I am wearing someone´s sporty bather and a pair of purple pants with one leg. Matt is going for the sexy look and is wearing some work shorts that won´t do up and a bias middrift exposing his hairy ass belly. Jocelyn is wearing some old underwear from 1992, a cute pìnk top and a matching foam viser. Take notes that all of the clothing in this line smell of mold and are covered in mysterious stains.

You could tell byhow the girls had been bickering all day that there was something brewing... and that was trouble.... a big fight! Until death! and so with Suz the Beast in the left corner and Erin the Terrible in the right the fight was on.

Suz was quick with a deafing blow to Erin´s face knocking out all of her front teeth and giving her two black eyes. Erin stumbled around in a daze for a while and the crowd thoughtSuz might be the champìon. There was silence as they waited for Erin to tip over.

But out of no where Erin throws this crazy undercut and knocks Sus head first right over the wall of the hostel. The crowd went wild and Erin was awarded this huge gold belt and some sparklie medalions which she hung in her wall next to her ribbon for winning long jump in gr. 3 track and field. Oh yeah. The Champion. Sus, I know you might not remember this battle this way, but you were pretty out of it, so just trust me.

Erin has left with her fam for a couple of days to see some sights, run from the hurricanes and search for sun. Hopefully they find it. I dont think they Imagined this much rain on their 2 week holiday in the sun. So I am still here getting ready for Halloween. Last week Erin and I renewed our visas and went to Nicaragua for a few days. So here are some pics from our trip. We stayed on an island called Ometepe where there are 2 volcaoes brewing with hot, molting lava. We watched them, waiting and waiting for them to explode. We were sure it was bound to happen, I mean its been 60 years. Alas, we were out of luck and all we saw was some smoke. BORING. Anyways, it was good times.

This is Sus trying as hard as she can to be part of my family, she even cooked us this huge meal as an attempt to get us to let her in. nice try Sus. Mom and Frank have arrived safe and sound and so far are adapting to the bugs and sounds pretty well. The night is busy with bug, bird and animal sounds.
Birks and beers, a Costa Rican combo, Frank's is the pale leg on the right and mine is the dirty one with red tow nails on the left. The beers committed suicide later that night.

Hey there all you foxy men and women,
well yesterday an air plane delivered my momma and bro to me down here and I am hanging out with them for two weeks. It is a pretty sweet deal because they have rented the cabin know as the Mothership which is the best place on the farm to stay with a view of green mountains with the ocean in between. There is a hamoch there and my mom will probably spend most of the holiday in it. Thank you Spantanna for sending me down those candies, I love Sour Keys and now I have some, I will rot my teeth. My brother now thinks I am crazy due to the list of things I asked him to bring me including the hani-sew, a crafty little gizmo for sewing which is highly under rated, a book on crystals, my taro cards and if that was not bad enough Anne Marie threw in a pook on palm reading and chakras. Only the necesities, but down here is a great place to learn about that stuff. Soon I will know how to cast spells and then all of you watch out! Nicaragua was beautiful, an island made of two volcanoes on Lake Nicaragua. Could have stayed there for ever, or until I got sick of the coffee, which would have taken a while. I miss all of you stinkers and there will be pictures soon. My bro brought me a new camera... wahaha...

So´,
the bank machine ate myt bank card today for no reason at all except that the world is trying to ruin me. Now I know why you travel with a copy of your pass port, or at least something to say you are this person so you can get things like eaten bank cards back. Damn. Susanna to the rescue will hopefully fax a copy of it this way though or else I am going to have to start selling handicrafts to get money down here. Yesterday I went up into the mountains where my friends uncle has a coffee and advocado farm. He had some horses there and we rode up into the mountains. My horse was named Brown Devil and was sort of well behaved but kept wanting to blaze her own trail and sometimes bucked a little. The two horses we were riding had foals and they just ran along side of us the whole time. Oscar would have loved this place. I think paradice is to live on a farm like this, never ending guacamole and coffee.... yummmmity yum. The girl I am traveling with is heading back to the states on Monday and since we left the farm on Tuesday has not stopped talking. My ears are getting worn out, she talks ´when I am wearing my discwoman- ? and even when I am sleeping. I dont know how one person can have so much to say. I am off to learn how to congigate some verbs. Adios

yo yo yo whats up- I dont know how to get the question mark to work on this key board or else I would have put one there, but lets pretend. So I have finally escaped fromt he evil clutches of Susanne and have left the farm for the week. I am in Cartago, which is near San Jose. It is weird to be in the city because I am used to the viva´muy tranquillo on the farm. There is alot of garbage and exhast all over the place. I am staying with my friend Dianna and Roberto who worked on the farm for a while. I went to college with them yesterday as show and tell. There are interesting things happening around here. Last night we traveled into San Jose to see the contemporary art museum and to take in a bit of the night life. We ended up at the main gay bar in town where there were more boys packed onto one dance floor than should be allowed and non of them were looking at me, I had even brushed my hair! We danced until the wee hours and there was a drag show where a guy dressed as Ursela from the little mermaid came on stage with the movie playing in the back ground and sang, it was wonderful, I had never seen anything like it. We jumped into a cab to take us home and I apparently tried to sell my shoe to the cab driver in order to pay for the cab... but I think that must be a made up story. Today we went to these botanical gardens where there are over 1000 kinds of orchids and cool forrests to walk through. The plants here make me crazy, they grow like wild. There was a forrest of just bambu which was like 40 ft. high. I looked for ninjas in it but they must have been very well camoflaged and stelthy because I did not see any. Sus, I hope you read this and know I will be home soon..... love to all
